How we got here
I started my career at large recruitment agencies in Tokyo, placing engineers into Japan's deep tech ecosystem: robotics, AI/ML, autonomous systems, space. I learned the craft, built a network, and saw the same problem over and over: generalist agencies don't work for technical founders.
They'd send 50 resumes, none of them relevant. They'd pitch candidates who couldn't tell ROS from React. And founders, the people who should be building product, were stuck screening CVs instead.
So I went a different route. I built communities around deep tech in Japan (events, meetups, content) to get closer to the talent and the companies hiring them. That gave me something most recruiters don't have: real relationships with engineers who don't respond to cold outreach, and a deep understanding of what makes these companies tick.
ClearPath is the result of everything I've learned over 6 years. A recruitment agency built specifically for the companies I've been working with all along: deep tech startups in Japan, seed to pre-IPO. We only recruit for technical roles. We understand your architecture decisions because we've placed the people who made them.
And unlike most agencies, we build our own technology. I code the tools we use: sourcing automation, candidate matching, market intelligence. ClearPath is AI-native from the ground up: AI handles the research, data, and coordination so our consultants can focus entirely on relationships and quality. It's how a small team delivers what used to take a 20-person agency.
No resume floods. No generic pitches. Just qualified introductions from people who speak your language.
